Wildlife In Arusha

Cape Buffaloes

African Cape buffaloes are strong, dark-coloured mammals known for their powerful build and distinctive curved horns. They roam the savannahs and forests of Arusha National Park in sizable herds. These formidable creatures are often seen near water sources and can be quite territorial.

Giraffes

Arusha National Park is home to the Masai giraffe – the largest-bodied giraffe species in the world. They are easily identifiable by jagged and irregular spots on their bodies. These tall giants often wander through the park's woodlands and open grasslands, gracefully feeding on tree leaves.

Zebras

The striking black and white stripes of the Plains zebra are a familiar sight in Arusha National Park. These social animals are often seen in small groups, grazing on the park's abundant grasslands. Their bold patterns serve as a natural defense mechanism against predators.

Flamingos

Flamingos are a vibrant presence at the Momella Lakes within Arusha National Park. These long-legged wading birds are known for their stunning pink plumage and distinctive bills, which they utilize to filter tiny aquatic organism from the water. During the wet season, the lakes are filled with thousands of these elegant birds.

We experienced a 7 day Safari with Hassan through Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire National Park. Everything was well organized. Hassan was waiting for us with hot coffee at the airport and drove us for the first game drive to Lake Manyara.
