Udzungwa National Park stands out for its exceptional biodiversity, housing the second-highest variety of species in Africa. It features diverse habitats like tropical rainforests and miombo woodlands and is the only place to spot the rare Iringa red colobus and Sanje crested mangabey monkeys.

Travellers to Udzungwa can enjoy hiking to the stunning Sanje Waterfall, bird watching with over 400 species present, and exploring the park's diverse flora and fauna on foot, as there are no paved roads within the park.

Udzungwa Mountains National Park was officially designated as a national park in 1992, reflecting its importance as a centre for biodiversity and conservation.

Udzungwa experiences most of its rainfall between November and May. The higher elevations often have mist and light rain even in the dry season, with cooler temperatures.
